The Best Cookies Ever!

I’ve never done a baking post before , but I do really love baking so I thought I would share with you one of my favourite recipes! I mean who doesn’t love cookies? It’s by the queen of baking Mary Berry and I’m always craving them. They are soft and gooey , which in my opinion is what the perfect cookie should be!

It makes roughly 20 !

You will need :

• 4 oz / 100g Butter
• 3 oz / 75g Caster Sugar
• 2 oz / 50 g Light Muscovado Sugar
• 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
• 1 Large Egg
• 5 oz / 150g Self Raising Flour
• 4 oz / 100g Chocolate Chips or chunks of your favourite chocolate bar

  1. Preheat the oven to Gas 5 and lightly grease the baking trays with butter. You’ll probably need about three.
  2. Measure the butter and sugar into the bowl and beat thoroughly until evenly blended . You can either use an electric mixer , but I use by hand because it makes the mixture fluffier .FullSizeRender 14
  3. Beat the egg and add vanilla extract . Then slowly add a little bit at a time to the butter and sugar mixture , beating well between each addition.
  4. Then fold in the flour , and stir in the chocolate chips.FullSizeRender 16.jpg
  5. Spoon large teaspoons of the mixture onto the prepared baking trays , but make sure you leave enough room so that they have enough room to spread.
  6. Bake the cookies in batches in the preheated oven , on the top shelf for 8-10 minutes or until they are golden brown. Watch them carefully though because they easily turn dark brown.
  7. Leave them to cool for a few minutes and then lift them off with a palette knife and place on a wire cooling rack! Then ENJOY!!FullSizeRender 13

These are perfect if you’re after something quick and easy and obviously scrumptious! They’re so soft and gooey and taste like heaven!! If you decide to try these delicious cookies please tweet me photos @jxnna_b ! I’m definitely going to be sharing with you some more of the recipes that I love !

Nyx Soft Matte Lipcreams Swatches and Reviews

Ever since I first found a Nyx stand at my local Boots , I have been absolutely obsessed! One of their most popular products has to be their soft matte lip creams as they are so affordable and the packaging is really photogenic. So since I have quite a few of them , I thought that I would do a review on them and let you know whether they are worth the hype or not.

FullSizeRender 12

First of all the colour choice is absolutely incredible ! They have colours that will suit everyone , they don’t just have nudes they have bright colours such as blues and purple , which is completely different to any other drugstore brands. They are only £5.50 and claim to be comfortable mattes . What more could you want?

I chose a nice selection of colours ranging from nudes to dark berries that are absolutely perfect for winter and autumn. Honestly , I prefer nude colours with a brown undertone , but for £5.50 you can’t go wrong trying something more out of your comfort zone . The shades I have are Abu Dhabi , Zurich , Cannes , Budapest and Copenhagen . They are all named after different cities from around the world which I find so cool and creative!

(left to right) Abu Dhabi , Zurich , Cannes , Budapest , Copenhagen *

Abu Dhabi is a browny nude which is perfect and goes with every look , this is probably my most favourite out of them all. Zurich is a pink toned nude which is lovely but far too pink for my liking , I like to layer this up with another colour. Then there’s Cannes which was my first ever lip cream , it is a gorgeous muted mauvey nude and like Abu Dhabi looks gorgeous with every makeup look. My final two are the darkest of all of them : Budapest is a very pigmented burgundy whereas Copenhagen is a very dark berry . Everyone seems to love Copenhagen but to be honest with you , I don’t really like it. I don’t know whether it’s just mine but you have to layer it up so much , if you want it to not look patchy. I much prefer Budapest as it is a lot more pigmented and it lasts a lot longer. They all have such a nice vanilla smell and they remind me a bit of a subtler scent of Mac lipsticks .

Like the name suggests the lip creams do feel extremely soft and comfortable on the lips . They aren’t drying , even though they are matte like they claim. They have a doe foot applicator and apply so smoothly and evenly . For the lighter shades you only need to apply one layer but the darker shades I would recommend applying more than one. They don’t dry matte straight away which is a shame , so they are quite transferable . However , despite the fact they are very transferable , they do have a good staying power and even when they start to come off a bit , they just fade evenly . It ends up looking like a tint which actually looks quite nice and is a lot better than it peeling off and looking patchy .

I’m going to say it , these have to be one of my favourite affordable liquid lipstick formulas . Although they are quite opaque , they look so gorgeous on the lips. They smell incredible , last a reasonable amount of time , are completely matte without feeling or looking drying. They are cruelty free , come in a massive range of colours , the applicator is the perfect shade and the packaging is super cute! What more could you possibly want from a drugstore lipstick ?

I absolutely love Nyx liquid lipsticks and definitely want to expand my collection. Have you tried any? Which shades do you recommend?

Love ,

Jenna xx

*My swatches aren’t the best but they are definitely improving so bear with me , they hopefully will get better.

Mini Haul and First Impressions

Since it’s the half term I have been shopping quite a lot recently , online and in store , I thought I would share with you some of the things I bought . It is sort of a first impressions aswell , so if you’d like to see more of these sort of posts , let me know!

  •  Forever 21 Button Boxy Jacket , Olive – £16

FullSizeRender

Ever since I went to America and visited Forever 21 , it has always been my favourite clothes shop. Unfortunately since the nearest store to me is over 2 hours away , I thought that I would have a look on the website. I picked up this jacket in the size small and it fits me perfectly. It’s really comfortable and will go with absolutely everything. It’s all I’ve been wearing since I got it!

  • Nyx Single Eyeshadows in Girl Talk and Lol – £2.50 & £3.50

fullsizerender-2.jpg

As all of you who read my blog know , I am absolutely obsessed with Nyx! I absolutely adore their eyeshadows and when I saw that you could create your own palette , I was so excited! I chose the shades Girl Talk and Lol ; Girl Talk is a perfect iridescent white highlight shade with pink reflects in and Lol is such an interesting shade . It’s a matte burnt orange and it looks absolutely gorgeous in the crease . They all blend really easily and for £2.50 you can’t go wrong. When I have built the whole of my palette I will do a post reviewing them and showing you what colours I chose.

  • Nyx MicroBrow Pencil in Expresso – £8

This has to be my favourite ever brow product , it’s so creamy , blendable and really precise. This is my second one as I use it every single day on my brows , because it is so affordable and it doesn’t dry out easily like a pomade. The shade range for this is incredible for brown haired people but there isn’t many lighter shades which is a bit of disappointment. However it is still one of my holy grail makeup products , I’d definitely recommend .

  • Hotel Chocolat Billionaire’s Shortbread – £3.85

IMG_3253

I didn’t know whether to include this or not but as it is nearly Easter , you can’t really do a haul without any chocolate in ! I had a voucher to get one chocolate selector for £2 instead of £3.85 so obviously I couldn’t resist! I chose the billionaires chocolate and it’s extremely delicious and just looks gorgeous! Have you tried anything from Hotel Chocolat? If you have , which is your favourite ?

  • Primark White Embroided Bardot Off The Shoulder Top – £10

img_3252.jpg

For absolutely ages , I’ve been looking for an off the shoulder white top that actually fitted me nicely. The problem with me is that I have really small shoulders , like so small , practically all off the shoulder tops just fall off completely. Is it just me who has that problem? It’s really irritating! But finally I found one that fits and it was such a bargain! It’s a lot nicer than other ones I’ve seen because the detailing on the shoulders is stunning , so simple but so gorgeous. Primark have a lovely selection of off the shoulder tops , you should definitely check them out.

  • Coconut Lane – MacBook Pro Case Sassy – £28

img_3245-2.jpg

Practically every blogger I know seems to love Coconut Lane so I really wanted to see what everyone was obsessing about. I ordered a case in the style Sassy and it arrived the next day , so I was really impressed! I got 20% off using the discount code BEAUTYSPECTRUM20 but there’s loads around, on YouTube and blogs. It is so good quality and it looks absolutely stunning . I can’t wait to use it in blog photos!

This is what I’ve bought recently , if you’ve tried any of these let me know because I would love to know what your opinion is.

Have a lovely Easter and I hope you get lots of chocolate !

March Favourites

Hello lovelies ,

So this is the first ever time I’ve done a monthly favourites! I know everyone seems to do it but I’ve had so many things I want to share with you , I couldn’t resist! So here are a selection of products and things I’ve been obsessing over this month!

Beauty and Skin Care

  • Body Shop Aloe Vera Cleanser

I have extremely sensitive , dry skin and I seem to react to most skincare products. I can’t use anything scented and since this is made from mostly natural products , there is no harsh chemicals in it. I would definitely recommend the Aloe Vera range to anyone with sensitive skin like mine. Ever since , I started using this my skin has hardly any major breakouts and it makes my skin feel so refreshed after it. I definitely want to try some more of their Aloe Vera skin care products especially their toner!

  • Colourpop Ultra Satin Lipstick – Point Zero

I only recently got my hands on some Colourpop products and I’m absolutely obsessed. Point Zero is the perfect cool toned brown nude , perhaps not the most spring colour but nevertheless it goes with any makeup look. I’ve done an in depth review on them , if you would like to find out more – Colourpop Review

Tv shows

  • A Series of Unfortunate Events

This has been out for quite a while now but I absolutely love it , it’s so funny and easy to watch. It only has 8 episodes but I quite like this because it doesn’t drag on like some series , that I end up getting fed up of. It’s one of those series that you just binge watch and is quite different to the usual things I tend to watch . I’ve even got my mum addicted to it and I’m absolutely desperate for the next series !

  • 13 Reasons Why

This has been on my watch list ever since the trailer came out and I was so excited when the series was finally released! I’ve only watched the first episode and I’m already hooked. I like the fact netflix has done a series about a more sensitive subject and raises awareness about teen suicide. Honestly , I think absolutely everyone should watch this as it makes you realise that everyone is fighting their own battle and that words affect everyone. It’s about this girl who has committed suicide and two weeks after her tragic death , a mysterious box full of recordings (made by Hannah) is left on Clay’s porch . On the recordings Hannah explains the 13 reasons why she decided to commit suicide and Clay has to listen to find out if he is one of the reasons why she did. It is so gripping but really sad at the same time. I know I’ll have finished it by the end of this week!

Songs

  • Ed Sheeran – Divide

I don’t think this album isn’t in anyone’s favourites this month! It’s so amazing and I was so excited when it was released because I am a massive Ed Sheeran fan ! I’ve had this album on repeat ! I’m genuinely obsessed !I tried to get tickets to his tour but unfortunately they had all sold out 😦 . Anyway , my favourite songs on the album have to be Supermarket Flowers as it is so emotional and so beautiful , it makes me cry everytime . I also love New Man , Nancy Mulligan and What do I Know , they are so happy and makes me smile ! What are your favourites ?

  • The Chainsmokers & Coldplay – Something Just Like This

Not many people know this about me , I absolutely love Coldplay ! A lot of people are surprised when they find their songs on my playlist but I know all the words to most of their songs! I don’t know what it is about Chris Martins voice but it makes me so relaxed and happy ! He’s also a genuinely nice person , I’ve never met him but when I saw him on James Corden Carpool Kareoke, I love him even more!

 Films

  • Me Before You

Can you believe I’ve only just watched this? It’s been out so long and is such a beautiful , heartbreaking film. I watched it in my GCSE RE class as we were doing all about euthanasia and I swear almost all of us girls were in tears. It’s a love story about this eccentric , positive girl (Louisa Clark) and this wealthy young banker (Will Traynor) who was in an accident two years ago and as a result of this is paralysed. Louise becomes a carer for Will so she has enough money to help her family. Will has an extremely negative outlook on life and wants to commit euthanasia (assisted suicide) as he feels like his life isn’t worth living. This is until Louisa starts to show him that life is actually worth living and their bond gets bigger and stronger than they could ever have imagined. I’m not going to say anything else apart from the fact you definitely need to watch it (and bring some tissues)!

  • Beauty and The Beast

I have only just managed to see this in cinema and I can see why everyone loves it! I’ve been desperate to see this ever since it came out and I first saw the trailer. The songs in it are incredible and so is the movie in general ! I’m a huge Disney fan and this did not disappoint at all! It’s not my favourite Disney film ever but it is such a good one to watch . I’d definitely recommend you going to see it as I’m sure you’ll love it as much as everyone else does!

Outfit

The outfit I’ve been wearing a lot this month is quite casual but I love it! I tend to wear lots of neutral colours , nothing too adventurous , and I’ve been looking everywhere for a burgundy hoodie and I finally found one! It’s from H&M , it was £12 , and it is meant to be cropped but on me it isn’t because I’m so short! It goes with everything and is so comfortable and easy to wear. My top is also from H&M , it was £8.99 and I love that it says coachella on it because it’s the festival I desperately want to go to! My jeans are in the wash but they were £30 from Next and they are so comfortable and they don’t fade either like Topshop jeans. My trainers are Converse All Stars and I think were around £40.

 Youtubers

  • Beauty Spectrum

I have been subscribed to Molly’s channel ever since I can remember. She has to be one of my favourite youtubers , she’s so down to earth , so funny and so gorgeous , I could go on. I love all her main channel videos , especially the beauty ones but her vlogs are definitely my favourite! She’s so hard working and she always gets at least one vlog up each week. She’s got so many amazing opportunities from YouTube and I couldn’t be prouder of her , she deserves absolutely everything she gets. I’d definitely recommend checking out her channel because I’m sure you’ll love her just as much as I do.

  • Makeup By Leyla

Can we just stop for a second and appreciate Leyla’s insane makeup skills! I have only just discovered Layla’s channel and Instagram and honestly her makeup skills is my inspiration! She is so gorgeous and in every video she looks flawless! Her tutorials are so easy to follow and she doesn’t just use all high end products like many youtubers tend to do so you can easily recreate them!

Blogs

I have only recently come across Emma’s blog and honestly it is ultimate blog goals! Her photos are incredible , her content is so well written and really creative. My personal favourite post of hers , this month has to be How to Make Your Own Ripped Jeans , and I am definitely going to be giving it a try. She seems so lovely, and I have read every post of hers and they are all absolutely amazing!

So these are a selection of the things I’ve been loving this month. Have you been loving anything that I have and what are some of your favourites?

Love ,

Jenna xx

Drugstore Makeup Wishlist

Earlier on , I did a HighEnd Makeup Wishlist and I promised that I would do a drugstore version , so here it is. I’ve had my eye on these for such a long time and I’m definitely going to be purchasing soon. All of these are cruelty free as I have recently decided from now on , I am only buying cruelty free makeup  and when I have used my non cruelty free makeup I am not repurchasing. So carry on reading if you want to see what’s on my wishlist ..

  • Colourpop Highlighter Flexitarian$8

I recently bought two colourpop liquid lipsticks , a satin and a matte and I was so impressed by their quality! Check out my review here : . I really want to try their highlighters because they look insane and are apparently so creamy and intensely pigmented ! If I really like it , it is a lot cheaper than my current Highlighter (the Mary loumaniser) and seems quite similiar – maybe a dupe? I also want to venture out with my highlighters as I only own one and even though it’s amazing , I really want to try some others .

  • Nyx Lip Lingerie in Scandulous and French Maid – £6.50

I own a few of the Nyx Lip Lingeries and I love the formula of them , the applicator is the perfect size and they come in the most gorgeous nudes . My personal favourite has to be bedtime flirt as it goes with every look possible. They’ve just released 12 new shades of them and I definitely have my eye on scandalous and delicate lust as scandalous is a cool toned greyish taupe ( I’ve been obsessed with cool toned brown lips) and french maid is a gorgeous muted mauve.

  • Nyx Angel Veil Primer – £13

I have heard such good reviews for this primer especially from KathleenLights . Apparently it is great for smoothing out your skin and is a mattifying primer. Even though I have dry skin , I absolutely love a matte base and as my foundation is quite glowy , it will even it out . It’s such an affordable price aswell and I’m obsessed with Nyx products so I think it will be perfect for me!

  • Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette

Am I the only one who hasn’t tried this? I swear everyone I know seems to own this and their highlight always looks so amazing! I prefer more natural highlights and this has such a good variety of subtle and a lot more prominent shades such as hemisphere. I like how you can also use it for eyeshadow especially the lilac shade with some of the cranberry shades in my Morphe 35t would look incredible! They seem to be such good quality and also look so photogenic , which is always a bonus! It is such a good price and I like how it includes a cream highlight instead of just all powders.

  • Colourpop Matte Pressed Powders in Dreamboat and Cute Alert – $5

I own quite a lot of shimmery shadows and hardly any mattes and when I found out Colourpop were releasing some matte eyeshadows I was so excited! I’ve heard such good reviews about their eyeshadows as they are so buttery and in such a good variety of shades. Dreamboat is the perfect transition shade which is what I desperately need and Cute Alert is a lovely burgundy shade which is perfect for my favourite warm toned eye looks!

  • Nyx Lid Lingerie in Sweet Cloud – £6

Every time I go to Boots , I always end up drawn to this but I have never bought it because I have so many eyeshadows in similiar shades to this , I don’t really need it. But like everything you don’t necessarily need , you want !It’s such a gorgeous colour and they are so pigmented with a lovely texture but I’m quite nervous about trying a liquid shadow. I’m just scared they won’t blend properly and will crease easily. However, I still really want to try one just to see what the massive hype is about . Have any of you tried a liquid shadow ?

  • I Heart Makeup Palettes – £8

I Heart Makeup have dupes to every TooFaced Chocolate Bar Palettes , even the Sweet Peach one! They smell like chemical chocolate but their pigmentation is meant to be amazing , as they are the same formula as the Makeup Revolution palettes. The shades are such a lovely variety to create any look , natural or smokey . I love that there is a variety of mattes , shimmers and metallics as most drugstore palette just seem to have loads of shimmers. To be honest I think I prefer the packaging on these to the original palettes even though they are a lot more bulky . Also they contain a mirror ! I know this sounds silly for me to get excited about but hardly any affordable palettes have mirrors especially when they are under £10!

  • Nyx Liquid Illuminater in SunBeam – £8

Spot a pattern yet? Yes , yet another highlighter on my wish list! And yes yet another Nyx item! 2017, is the year I’m going to venture out on my makeup , instead of just using my usual . I’ve never tried a liquid highlighter and I know that if I use this as a base for my powder highlight, I will be blinding! You can also add these to your foundations for a more healthy , glowy look which will be absolutely perfect in summer!

I hoped you enjoyed having a nosy at my wishlist and I’d love to know what cruelty free drugstore products you love, so I can try them too! I’d also like to know what drugstore , cruelty free foundations you all love because as soon as mines run out I’m going to try a new one!

Love ,

Jenna xxx
